Awwwww Schitz. It’s back to school time again and it gets erryone thinking about putting their heads into books and their mouths onto bongs and their lips onto cans of PBR. Not that back to school is all about the party, it just seems that way sometimes. I once followed a dream and enrolled into Law School having visions of, well, suing the shit out of people and making bank. I quickly realized that I wasn’t cut out for the intense 8 years of schooling it would take to finish Law so I flipped majors to Audio Engineering instead. I once had a dream. The American Dream.
The term “American Dream” was first used by James Truslow Adams in his 1931 novel, “The Epic of America. Truslow wrote of “that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone”, a land of “opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.” This was “not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature…” that , “of which they are innately capable…recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.”
Since his prolific writing, the “American Dream” has evolved. The American Dream Team is on the frontier of audio-visual sets reaching the masses.
