First off, allow me to thank Schitz Popinov for being the fuckin man that he is. After a few months of online interaction, I was able to meet the man, the myth, the legend himself in Vegas prior to his rendezvous with the high desert dust at Burningman. I am extremely humbled and honored to be wriiting for all y’all Schitheadz. My name is DJ THC Electra and I enjoy all types of music, but lately I’ve been most into Nu Disco Electro Funky Shit, Sick Beats with Vocals and Sexy Choruses. Basically music for rooftop/poolside parties, and hotel rooms. A big hello to everyone from Exxxplosivo.com
The first track I’d like to talk about is Senor Stereo’s “Hot Damn”. This tune comes in hot and doesn’t let go. Señor Stereo is: Joe Masurka (aka Joe Maz), Danny Gomez (aka Danny Daze), and Matt Masurka (aka Gigamesh). Not sure which artist contributes the lyrics/vocals – but they are certainly fresh. After the chorus which calls out to everyone within earshot, “Shake, Hot Damn!, Get Off Your Ass & Jam!” the vocals drop with
“It’s my nighttime party, here we go (here we go).
I’m pushing my weight down to the floor (to the floor).
Dance to the hypnotic sound, foxy ladies gettin’ down,
I just left my worries at the door (at the door).”
Sick.

The second track I’m featuring is also a vocal gem, and although it came out in April 2008, I feel it’s not as widely known as it should be. Grovesnor is the brainchild of Rob Smoughton, drummer for Hot Chip – a band with some impressive wordplay over fresh beats throughout the years. The lyrics to the Grovesnor song “Drive Your Car” are completely powerhouse, but what’s most impressive is the vocal delivery in time over this eclectic electro beat. There’s plenty of sold remixes out there, but the original holds some serious weight.

Grovesnor – Drive Your Carpopped bySchitz Popinov √
I haven’t found the full lyrics online, so here’s my best guess:
“Leopard skin with tiger? eyes
With a roof down on thunder skies
At a loss for the weekend
on the way home
Clouds above and drains below
People dancing toe to toe
talking in circles
on the way home
VIP’s and premieres
debutantes and shipping heirs
they would entertain you
on the way home
I would drive your car home every night
Just to feel the open road
Just to feel it
But I miss you
And I (?) could’ve (?) get it right
My love
I would drive your car home every night
Just to feel the open road
Just to feel you
But I miss you
And I couldn’t get it right
My love,
I’m sure I could be what you’re dreaming of
And the second verse gets even more tongue twisted:
Leopard skin with tiger? eyes
The former skies could dry your eyes
And baby they will entertain you to get you on your own
You’ve got to make sure to watch for laissez-fair sommeliers
And those hoteliers with satin stares ?(stairs)?
And baby they will entertain you to get you on your own
You’ve got to make sure you’re holding on
I would drive your car home every night
Just to feel the open road
Just to feel it
But I miss you
And I (?) could’ve (?) get it right
My love
I would drive your car home every night”
“VIP’s & Shipping heirs, debutantes and premieres”
-Are you kidding me?
- Then dropping
“You’ve got to make sure to watch for laissez-fair sommeliers and those hoteliers with satin stares”
That is some high-level lyricism right there. Plenty more of that on both of the Grovesnor albums, check out “Dan” for a 2010 spin on the vibe/idea behind Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl”

For those Sexy Beast fans – “you’re staying at the Grovesnor”

Stay fresh.
